God is at the heart of Holy Trinity Catholic School and the reason for the school’s existence. Holy Trinity uses the Faith and Life Series in its religion classes. The curriculum strives to help students gain knowledge of Catholic doctrine, develop character to live as an image of God, and create a caring Christian community. The students will participate in classroom activities, daily prayer, weekly Mass, Sacrament of Reconciliation, time in the Adoration Chapel, and social justice activities. Grades K-2nd attend Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, learn more about what they do in CGS here.
We believe that every child is a unique gift from God. Our focus is to foster the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and moral growth of each child. Our teachers work to build a positive classroom community where students know they belong and where the teachers know their students as learners.
Students are given the tools to take ownership of their learning and to explore their intellectual curiosity while building the stamina for learning. The primary grades academic focus is on student growth. Our teachers and the size of our class enables the teachers to closely monitor the progress of every student, mindful that every student’s set of skills and abilities emerge uniquely. The primary teachers’ daily instruction is designed to respect the pace and unique developmental needs of students at their individual level.
All students in the primary grades will participate in weekly Mass, and Stations of the Cross during Lent. Second-grade students are properly prepared to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
During the intermediate years, teachers help build on the foundation established during the primary years and increase the rigor of instruction. Students make the transition from learning to read to the process of reading to learn. This change often takes some getting used to for both students and parents. At this stage, students begin to take on more responsibility for their class and homework.
With a solid academic foundation in place, the intermediate grades are also when the students begin to take on more responsibility for the school community by participating in the buddy programs at various levels, giving the students personal satisfaction from contributing to the broader community, all while developing leadership skills and the sharing of their gifts and talents.
All intermediate students participate in weekly Mass, Stations of the Cross during Lent, are able to participate in Reconcilliation twice per year, and are expected to participate more fully in the weekly Mass through leading the rosary, readings, prayers of the faithful, and the children’s choir. Fourth graders are invited to expand their contribution to the Mass as altar servers.
