Holy Trinity’s offers its 7th and 8th graders an incredible opportunity for significant spiritual, academic, and social growth, incorporating the Catholic Social Teaching of Caring for God’s Creation. Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center, located in Lansboro, MN, provides accredited education programs & outdoor adventures to over 16,000 children, adults, and families each year. Students spend three days immersed in hands-on courses. Classes include environmental issues, plant and animal ecology, team building and personal growth, and outdoor recreation.
By joining Student Council, students gain leadership experience and get involved in the school community. Holy Trinity Student Council is a group of 4th – 8th-grade students who have been designated by their peers and their teachers as leaders in the school. Student Council’s main mission is to serve the student body and facilitate programs and projects that promote service. They are dedicated to providing opportunities for Holy Trinity students to serve the school community, the neighborhood community, and our global community.
We are proud of our student-lead community building activities and service projects. Some of our activities and service projects include food shelf drives, The Franciscan Brothers of Peace, Pennies for Patients, Feed My Starving Children, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. Student Council also organizes the out of uniform fund drives, where students pay $1 to be out of uniform on select days. The funds collected go to a variety of worthy causes.
Each homeroom representative will actively seek out the wishes of his/her homeroom classmates and voice them to the student council. This person is responsible for communicating promptly to their classmates, the decisions of the student council, enlisting their support and participation, and performing the duties assigned to him/her. Homeroom representatives will be asked to serve on at least three event committees during the school year. They will be expected to attend and participate in all student council meetings, and student council sponsored events.
This event is F-U-N! As a culmination to the Catholic Schools Week celebrations, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis holds its annual Spelling Bee. Students in grades 4, 5 and 6 begin in classroom bees and then participate in an all school bee. The winner of the Holy Trinity Spelling Bee advances to the Archdiocesan Bee to compete against students from Catholic schools across the metro area.
Put your knowledge to the test with the Grade School Quiz Bowl! 48 Catholic schools come together to compete at the University of St. Thomas, sponsored by the admissions directors of the 12 Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese. Holy Trinity sends a team of 8th graders to answer questions about topics ranging from math or science to current events and popular television shows. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to display their expertise in various areas as well as learning the importance of working together as a team.
It is our mission to help our students grow closer to God through giving of their time and talents. Holy Trinity Catholic School exemplifies the importance of living the Message of Jesus Christ by helping others. All of our students participate in a variety of community service projects, giving them an opportunity to serve those in need.
All Holy Trinity school and Faith Formation students are welcome to become altar servers beginning in the 4th grade. This ministry is very important to our parish community as they provide assistance at Saturday, Sunday, weekday, and special Masses. Training is provided for all new altar servers, and schedules are prepared and distributed.
Students in 5th through 8th grade may serve as members of the school safety patrol. The patrols help school staff and teachers ensure the safety of students by assisting students and parents at the time of arrival and dismissal. Morning patrols start at 7:40 a.m. and afternoon patrols are done by 2:40 p.m. In addition to daily responsibilities, the school patrols are used for many of our walking field trips to cross the streets. As a thank you to our student patrols they each receive a day at the Nickelodeon Universe at the MOA in May.
Our student buddy program not only helps our younger students feel safe, valued and connected to the school community, but it also makes our older students, the buddies to the kindergartners and primary grades, feel valued, respected: thus, building confidence and a stronger sense of self and responsibility for others.
